She showed us seeds, nuts and berries and told us how important it is for the plant that the seeds can spread far away from the parent plant. Birds are good at helping plants by eating the berries and fruit, and when the seeds go through the bird's digestive system they are spread far and wide.
As we walked to the Willows, we saw lots of berries and seeds.
'Helicopters' are the seeds from Sycamore trees.
Whitebeam and Rowan trees, and berberis and cotoneaster bushes, have lots of lovely berries. How many can you see around Papdale?
Did you know?
There are hardly any Willow trees in 'The Willows'! They are mostly sycamore trees, although there are some rowan, whitebeam and ash and some new holly bushes.
Dzień dobry
We have enjoyed visits this term from Maciej's Mum to teach us to speak some Polish - Dziękuję! We also learned Norwegian from Anette, who is in S6 at KGS this year from Hordaland (where our Christmas trees come from) - Tusen Takk! And finally Mr Robinson arranged for his visitors from Germany to come and visit us, and helped us do our Check-in in German - Danke schön! Not forgetting Merci beaucoup for all the French speakers!
Science Festival visit
P2 had a lot of fun with the toys from Thailand, as part of the recent Science Festival. Most of the toys were musical, and we even got to make our own.
Some of the toys were tricks, like the finger trap.
